S.E.E.D.S. Curriculum Day

Toronto, ON – Oct. 21, 2017 – As S.E.E.D.S. prepares for its upcoming workshops and after-school programs for 2018, we hosted our Curriculum Hackathon on Saturday, October 14th. The event aimed to approach our curriculum development through an innovative and interactive lens, allowing our volunteers to be involved in the process of forming our curriculum and challenging to look at mental health from different perspectives.

The afternoon started with a delicious pizza lunch and light, healthy snacks. All the volunteers, support team members and executive team members then collaborated to brainstorm ideas for activities. In small teams, the volunteers demonstrated great teamwork, creativity and enthusiasm in the process of developing their curriculum activities.

Afterwards, our volunteers presented their proposal for mental health activities. Each group delivered a proposal for a lesson plan focusing on different aspects of mental health, that would engage and be relative to our after-school program students. After careful consideration, the winners were: 1st Prize: Umnia Hasib and Mishal Saeed 2nd Prize: Malissa Bishop, Julian Lau, Yi-Chun Tsang 3rd Prize: Ian Mantel, Sophie Ngana, Shanza Zafar

Congratulations to all our winners! We would also like to sincerely thank all of our volunteers, executive and support team members for participating despite their busy schedules!
